The focus of this training is on learning when physical tactics are appropriate, your rights to defend yourself, how to keep yourself and others safe, and how to avoid, escape from, and defend against physical assaults. In other words, the tactics taught are meant to be used in the face of a clearly articulable safety violation that could result in physical harm.

The prerequisite for this training is the Vistelar Non-Escalation, De-Escalation, and Crisis Management training program. Workers who have a responsibility to respond to and intervene in emergency situations should also take the Positive Interventions and Stabilization training program.
